FORADS
The Faculty of Research and Doctrinal Studies (FORADS)
This faculty is charged with the task of reviewing and updating the
tactical doctrines of the Army in close liaison with the Inspector General
Training and Evaluation Branch at the General Headquarters. It is headed by
a Brigadier / Colonel assisted by six members of the Directing
Staff/Permanent Staff. Some of its functions are:
· Conduct research on doctrine / current professional issues.
· Review existing doctrines to ensure that they remain in harmony with operation
environment.
· Observe selected exercises/study periods of field formations.
· Provision of necessary input to the studies taken up by GHQ.
· Process, finalize and disseminate research work and doctrinal studies.
· Publish of the College professional magazine “The Citadel”.
· Provide input to the faculty and students on all the aspects of Threat.
· Plan and conduct “College Seminar” on annual basis on a subject of national or
professional importance.
· Provide support to the College Information Technology Project.
· Provide Media Support to including efficient functioning of ETV, Cable Network, ISP
and Voice Communication System.
· In an advisory capacity, assist in the smooth functioning of Iqra APS&C.
· Assist College of EME in the conducting TOTSC

Technical Facilities
Certain supporting technical facilities that also function under FORADS are given below:
Media Support Wing
Modern technology has considerably enriched and improved the quality of instruction at the College. The facilities include sophisticated language laboratories, a modern close circuit Educational Television (ETV) network known as Educational Television (ETV) and an elaborate Internet setup. These training facilities have been organized under the Media Support Wing and their utilization and integration in the curriculum make the instructions effective, interesting and innovative. Student officers get adequate opportunities to use these facilities. The Media Support Wing can serve the close circuit Educational Television (ETV) and computer terminals in all the syndicate rooms simultaneously, and the facilities can be used for group discussions, lectures, conferences, individual and group research presentations and war games.
Computer Support Wing
The College had embarked upon an ambitious Computerization Plan that encompasses the provisioning of multifaceted facilities directed towards enhancing academic excellence in a futuristic environment. It provides to the community a wide variety of databases, on-line research facilities, mailing, information and curriculum support/assessment modules. Every student has the facility of his own laptop computer for connection to the College Intranet and Internet. Most of his routine work is automated by the use of this laptop connected with the Intranet
Main Library
The Main Library houses books concerned with serious reading. A large number of international newspapers and magazines on professional and general subjects are also available. It also boasts of a well-equipped Audio Visual Section and extensive Internet facilities to assist the students in their research pursuits. The Fiction Library offers a wide selection of weekly and monthly magazines in addition to a large variety of books for families of the officers.
A new Library Management System has been introduced with a view to provide an online search facility for library resources. A user now can browse through library catalogue, read the articles, make reservation for books and suggest intake of library contents.
At present the library holds 39218 books on various disciplines including 1800 rare books. The books are arranged and classified in accordance with Dewey Decimal classification system. Besides these books, approximately 30000 periodicals (including 14000 professional and 16000 non-professional) are available in the periodical section.
Electronic Library
Electronic Library has also been established with a view to provide free access to a number of classic books. It allows the user to store links to their favorite books in a convenient place. To facilitate the readers a number of selected books have also been scanned and put on Local Area Network.
Language Laboratories
The College has two modern language laboratories, which are used to impart instructions in foreign languages to our student officers. Essentially this facility is used for teaching Arabic and English to Pakistani officers. An equally important function of this facility is to impart a functional knowledge of Urdu to the Allied Officers and their families.
